Quote of the day

Although it’s the beginning of the week, here’s an inspirational quote to get you through the day! 😊

The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.

Alice Walker

Happy birthday, Alice Walker! The Color Purple novelist has her mother, Minnie Lou Tallulah Grant, to thank for her education. Living under Jim Crow laws, Minnie had to stand up to landlords who believed children of black sharecroppers should work in the fields instead of enroll in school. She later worked 11 hours a day for $17 per week to help pay for Alice’s college tuition.

Happy Saturday! Here’s your Arthurian Quote of the Day!

Since today’s quote is from the movie King Arthur, I am using Clive Owen for the picture. Please either enjoy it or forgive me 😉

Knights! The gift of freedom is yours by right. But the home we seek resides not in some distant land. It’s in us! And in our actions on this day! If this be our destiny, then so be it. But let history remember that as free men, we chose to make it so.

King Arthur (1995), written by David Franzoni

Arthurian quote of the day!

Yet some men say in many parts of England that King Arthur is not dead, but had by the will of our Lord Jesu into another place; and men say that he shall come again, and he shall win the holy cross.

Arthurian Quote of the Day!

“Wretch, unhappy me! Why did I come here from my land? The earth should truly swallow me up, since the very best of knights—the boldest and the bravest, the most loyal, the most courteous that was ever count or king—has completely abandoned all chivalry because of me. Now have I truly shamed him; I should not have wished it for anything!” Enide, Erec and Enide, p. 68.
